Upcoming Events for Career Communicators
We have some interesting and exciting meetings coming up over the next couple of months. Club members and guests should find plenty of interest.
On the first Tuesday of February, the 7th, we will hold our Spring Contest. Bill Hicks has stepped forward to act as Contest Chair. We will have contestants vying in the Table Topics and International speech contests with the chance to move up to the Area contest. Plenty of roles to be filled and audience members are always welcome.
Our next February meeting, on the 21st, will be our spring Open House. This is always a great opportunity to check out a regular Toastmaster Club meeting and interact with our members to discuss the benefits of joining. Bianca Kelly has agreed to act as our Open House Chair. I’m sure that she will get plenty of help from our membership to make this a memorable and enjoyable evening.
This is our club’s 5th year and we are planning a suitable celebration on April 4th with a guest keynote speaker of some local renown, Colonel (Ret.) Jill Morgenthaler. Dennis Timko (charter member) and John Labbe are acting as co-chairs to plan this worthwhile evening.
We will also hold regular club meetings on January 17th, March 7th and March 21st. Guests and Toastmasters from other clubs are always welcome.
“Great oratory magnifies the lessons of great writing. Written for the ear, memorable speeches tend to use certain rhetorical devices — such as parallelism or emphatic word order — in greater measure than less dramatic forms of communication. The language strategies rise to the surface, so you may not even need a pair of X-ray reading glasses to see them.”
