One-A-Day Speech Project
Who: This is a joint venture between members of
Toastmasters Plus and Career Communicators Toastmasters in Palatine, Illinois.
What: It entails creating at least 36 speeches videos in each monthly meeting. This is not a standard meeting and these table topic like speeches are the only type of speech we will perform. The plan is to meet once a month for about 12 months.
We will use a list gathered off the Internet. In the interest of getting speeches that last the required 1-2 minutes we will allow speakers to review a question just prior to performing a speech. This allows participants to determine if they feel comfortable giving an impromptu speech on that topic. If not, they may choose another prompt. Speeches will be timed and we will use the standard green, yellow and red timing alerts to notify speakers of their time.
In order for this to be a success, we ask that all participants highly repost videos once they are ready for general viewing. All participants agree to allow their video image to be used this way.
Where: The initial meeting for the One-A-Day Speeches video creation project will be at
Lamplighter Inn, 60 N Bothwell Street (2nd floor), Palatine, IL 60067. While it’s not required, we highly recommend participants purchase food/drink, in order to make it worth the establishment’s time (they are donating the cost of the space).
When: October 24, 2017, Tuesday, 7pm-9:30pm
Why: To gain membership by showing the public how much fun Toastmasters can be and how easy it is to perform speeches.
