A Razzle-Dazzle Event
The Toastmasters District 30 Fall Conference for 2017 was a real Razzle-Dazzle event!
Purple seemed to be the order of the day – balloons at tables, table-runners, and clothing choices seemed to favor the Color Purple.
I was honored to help with running the Conference Store, with the able coaching of District Finance Manager, and Career Communicator club member, Beth Reed.
The computer program for order taking was a little slow, and entering orders was a slightly complicated process. Once learned, however, the system worked will enough, and the wait was not so very onerous for the people standing in line.
More people may have dropped in at different times, had the program listings on attendees’ conference nametag lanyards just given the entire day as the Store’s hours. As it was, the time slots given on the nametags gave us some exciting rush hours!
I liked listening to the Speech Evaluation contestants as they responded to the Target Speaker’s speech on “Owning It.” I thought the better evaluators won, and agreed with the judges’ adjudication of the event.
I would encourage conference attendance as an enjoyable way for members to participate more widely in Toastmasters activities.
