Career Communicators’ 5th Anniversary Celebration & Andy Bialek’s Achievement of Competent Communicator Award
The room was filled with sunny smiles on Tuesday, April 4th when our Toastmaster club, Career Communicators, celebrated it’s 5th anniversary. There was plenty of reason for all of the smiles since this was a gathering of current, former and potential club members, along with Toastmasters throughout the district. Everything a Toastmaster could like was present – fellowship, good speeches and delicious food.
The stage was set for charter club member and current club President, Andy Bialek to present his 10th speech on the topic of ‘A Toastmaster’s Journey’ to achieve his Competent Communicator education award. Andy quoted from Socrates and talked about the challenge to fit in Toastmaster aspirations with every day adult distractions and activities.
Andy’s speech was only one of the highlights of this carefully planned event – keynote speaker Lt. Col (ret.) Jill Morgenthaler entertained and educated attendees with leadership lessons from her Army experiences and charter member and the club’s biggest booster Kevin Chapman told the history of the club.
The two club members who spearheaded the event planning were also integral to pulling off this most enjoyable evening – Dennis Timko and John Labbe as Toastmaster and General Evaluator, respectively.
Wednesday might have dawned chilly and rainy over Chicagoland, but those who were present could still bask in the warmth of those smiles of a successful evening.
