Accomplishments at Career Communicators
The new Toastmaster’s year started in July and our club members have been busy meeting all sorts of goals in the weeks since that time.
At our Club’s fall contest, a few of our brand new members stepped forward to compete in the Humorous contest. While they each put forward great effort, Ken Sepos won the Humorous speech portion with a delightful story based in his childhood. He went on to represent our club at the next level up, the Area contest, and came home with a 2nd place trophy.
One of our most goal oriented members, Dennis Timko, has had a wonderful fall contest season. He won our club’s Evaluation contest then he went on to ace the next level up, the Area contest. Dennis further matched skills admirably with the other contestants at the division level and came in second. Dennis has very good reason to be proud of meeting this goal. He regularly shows himself to be a very accomplished Evaluator at our club meetings.
Several members are racing toward their first educational award, the Competent Communicator (CC) and have a goal to achieve this milestone within the first half of the Toastmaster year. I look forward to honoring them in a future post when they are in possession of their CC certificate. Many are concurrently working on their Competent Leader award too.
We have members who have achieved both speech related and leadership related advanced education awards. James Thies earned his Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB) and he is already hard at work at the next level. I myself recently completed my Advance Leader Bronze and I am chipping away at my ACB with the plan of completing this level before the change to the new Education program.
Kevin Chapman has been diligently working this fall to join Dennis Timko as one our club members who has achieved the highest Toastmaster award, the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM). Kevin earned his Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG) and Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) and will earn his DTM before too much more time passes.
I am very pleased to be a part of such an active club that is full of members who energetically work toward their goals.
